Office of Institutional Research and Assessment

Excellence in Academic Program Review Award

Since 2012, the Office of Institutional Assessment has conferred the Excellence in Academic Program Review Award. The following five dimensions are considered to constitute an excellent APR report:

  • Reflective and meaningful discussion of data and assessment findings
  • Use of best practices in assessment, such as using direct measures to assess student learning outcomes
  • Well-formed action plans based on evidence
  • Adherence to the structure outlined in the APR Guide
  • Involvement of several faculty members in preparing and writing the report

Each year the Excellence in Academic Program Review Award is given to the unit whose report best meets these five dimensions. The unit is honored with a ceremony and a monetary award to be used towards faculty development or resources that can be utilized by faculty members in the unit.
